The Voice

We all have a voice inside of us; you know the one I am going to talk about. it is the one which will stop you from jumping around in the puddle of water after the rain, the one which gives you about a million reasons why doing that 'childish' thing is not a good idea,
giving you a million reasons why telling about your real feelings towards her should be delayed... well the last one is a cocktail of many things and to be honest it is justified. This voice was part of the package when we decided to grow up, whether we wanted or not. Some call it the voice of reason too and for good reason. I am not here to say ignore it and go out have fun. But do not let it get so strong that we suffocate the small child inside who did not mind getting the shoes wet and dirty.  Growing up but not losing the innocence is the key.
This voice helps but also induces the constant fear that you need to conform by the societal norms. They will make fun of you, ridicule you and your decisions and this thought is enough to set one on the path of what the world has decided for them. Why this fear? Why do we have this longing of being accepted? The obvious answer is man is a social animal and cannot survive on his own. But does this mean we tweak ourselves so much that we lose our individuality?
If you are not sure yet, the answer is NO (yes, in all caps). All one needs to do is take that leap of faith. The only one who can help you is you because no one knows you better. If it goes wrong you will emerge stronger as you now have experience. Those who matter and care will be beside you when you take of leap; those who aren't were never meant to be.  So the next time it rains and you see a puddle of water and the voice says 'you will look stupid and people will judge you', take a step back, loosen up and take the leap.
